Power BI versions are formatted by year and month, so a version like 2.124.1554.0 indicates it was released in April (the 4th month) of 2024. If it’s been more than a couple of months since the current date, it’s definitely time for an update.

There are two primary ways to install and update Power BI Desktop. The method you use often depends on your company's IT policy or how you initially installed the software. Let's cover both.
