How to Add Google Analytics to Framer Site
Adding Google Analytics to your Framer site is a non-negotiable step for understanding how people find and use your website. It's the easiest way to get an accurate view of your visitor traffic, top-performing pages, and user engagement. This guide will walk you through exactly how to connect GA4 to your Framer project in just a few clicks.
Why Track Your Framer Site with Google Analytics?
Before jumping into the "how," it's important to understand the "why." You've put a lot of effort into designing a stunning site in Framer, but a great design is only half the battle. Without data, you're flying blind. You can't improve what you don't measure, and Google Analytics is the best tool for seeing what's happening on your site.
Here's a quick rundown of what Google Analytics helps you do:
- Understand Your Audience: Learn where your visitors are coming from geographically, what devices they're using, and which channels (like social media, organic search, or direct links) are driving the most traffic.
- See How Visitors Behave: Discover which pages are most popular, how long people stay on your site, and which blog posts or landing pages have the highest bounce rates. This information helps you figure out what content resonates and what needs improvement.
- Track Conversions: Whether your goal is for visitors to sign up for a newsletter, fill out a contact form, or purchase a product, you can set up goals in Google Analytics to measure your success. This turns abstract visitor data into concrete business results.
- Optimize Your Website: By combining all this information, you can make data-informed decisions instead of relying on guesswork. Notice a page has a high exit rate? Maybe the content isn't clear or the call-to-action is broken. Is a specific blog post driving traffic but no conversions? Time to revise it.
In short, Google Analytics gives you the raw data you need to turn your website into a powerful tool for your business, not just a static digital brochure.
Step 1: Get Your Google Analytics 4 Measurement ID
The key to connecting Google Analytics and Framer is your Measurement ID. This unique identifier tells Google which data stream to send the information to. It always starts with a "G-" and is followed by a string of letters and numbers (e.g., G-ABCDE12345).

If You Already Have a Google Analytics 4 Property
If you already have a GA4 property for your website, finding your Measurement ID is simple. Here's how:
- Log into your Google Analytics account.
- Click on the Admin gear icon in the bottom-left corner of the page.
- In the Property column (the middle one), click on Data Streams.
- Click on the data stream connected to your website. It will typically be named after your site URL.
- Your Measurement ID will be visible in the top-right corner. Click the icon next to it to copy it to your clipboard.
That's it! You now have your Measurement ID and can skip ahead to Step 2.
If You're Setting Up Google Analytics for the First Time
If you're completely new to Google Analytics or only have a Universal Analytics account, creating a GA4 property and finding your Measurement ID is your first move. Don't worry, it only takes a few minutes.
- Go to the Google Analytics homepage and sign in with your Google account.
- Navigate to the Admin section by clicking the gear icon in the bottom left.
- In the Account column, click Create Account. Give your account a name - this is usually your business name.
- Next, you'll be prompted to create a Property.
- Click Next and fill out some optional information about your business.
- On the next screen, you’ll be asked to set up a Data Stream. Since this is for a website, you will choose the Web platform.
- Now, enter your Framer site's URL in the Website URL field (e.g., your-site.framer.website or your custom domain).
- Click Create stream. Once the stream is created, you’ll get a confirmation screen that displays your Measurement ID. This is the
G-XXXXXXXXXXcode you need.
Copy that Measurement ID. You’re ready to get Framer connected.
Step 2: Add Your Measurement ID to Your Framer Site Project Settings
Framer’s native integration makes this part a breeze - no coding required. This is the simplest and recommended method for most users.
- Open your project dashboard in Framer's editor.
- In the top bar, click on Site settings.
- In the settings modal that appears, navigate to the General section in the left sidebar.
- Scroll down until you find the Integrations or Analytics section. Here you will see a field for Google Analytics.
- Paste the Measurement ID you copied earlier.
- Finally - and this is a critical last step - Publish your site again by clicking the green button in the top right corner. The change won’t take effect until you do.
Congratulations, your Framer site is now sending data to Google Analytics!
Step 3: Test and Confirm Google Analytics Is Working
Don’t just assume it works. You should always verify that data is being recorded correctly. The easiest way to do this is with the Realtime report in Google Analytics.
- Head back to your Google Analytics dashboard.
- In the left sidebar menu go to Reports > Realtime.
- Next, open another browser window in incognito mode or on another device (like your phone) and go to your published Framer site URL.
- Navigate to a few different pages. Head back to Google Analytics in your original browser. In a few moments, you should see your own visit pop up in the Realtime report. It should reflect "1 User in Last 30 Minutes" and a card at the bottom of your board detailing page and location details like city.
If you see a visit appear there, your connection is successful. Keep in mind that a full data history can take between 24 and 48 hours to appear in standard reports, so don’t be alarmed if the other sections appear empty for the first couple of days.
Common Troubleshooting Tips for Connecting Framer with Google Analytics
Did you run into any roadblocks? These quick tips should help:
Data Not Appearing in Google Analytics
Double-check the ID! It could very well be a typo. Copy & Paste the ID again to be safe. Also, don't forget to republish your Framer website immediately after you make a change. Sometimes it can take a day or two for reports to completely back-date. Wait at least 48 to 72 hours for all the data to fully show in a report.
Traffic in My GA Account Seems Low
Keep in mind that ad blockers might prevent analytics scripts from fully firing correctly. While these won't stop everyone's data from being captured, it will cause slight discrepancies compared to what your Framer site's settings analytics.
Is Google Analytics Measurement ID the Same Thing as other Google Product IDs (Google Tag Manager ID)?
The Measurement ID for Google Analytics always starts with "G-", while other Google products start with different letters. For instance, Google Tag Manager codes ("GTM-...") are completely different. Make sure you are inputting the correct Measurement ID in Framer's Google Analytics field inside the settings.

Final Thoughts
Adding Google Analytics to your Framer site is one of the most valuable five-minute tasks you can do. Using the simple built-in integration gives you access to an amazing amount of information about your visitors, helping you understand how to improve your website, create better content, and grow your audience.
Of course, collecting data is just the foundation. The real challenge is translating those charts and numbers into meaningful action, especially when you're busy running a business. We built Graphed to shortcut that process for you. Because Framer projects often require so much of your and your team's time, you might not have nearly enough capacity or resources to devote solely to a dedicated analytics system or to fully understand Google Analytics solely on its own. After connecting your data sources to Graphed, like your newly configured Google Analytics account, you can simply tell our AI Analyst what you'd like to see, such as "What are my best performing pages from last month?" and you'll get a report instantly - no manual drilling down or dashboard building needed. Graphed is all about giving you access so you can make much smarter decisions quickly, saving you valuable hours.
