How to Add a Team Member to Meta Business Suite: Step-by-Step

2. Go to the "People" Section

3. Invite a New Person

Look for the blue Add People button in the top right corner and click it.

4. Enter Their Business Email

A popup window will prompt you to enter the email address of the person you're inviting. Crucially, use their work email address. This invitation isn't tied to their personal Facebook profile, it's a professional invitation to collaborate on business assets. A business email keeps things clean and secure.

After entering their email, click Next.

5. Assign Their Business Account Role

Now, you'll decide on the level of control this person has over the entire Business Account. You have two main options:

  • Employee access (Recommended): This gives them basic access. They cannot manage permissions or change settings. This is the safest and best choice for 99% of team members.
  • Admin access: This grants them full control over everything, including adding people, editing business info, and access to financial tools. Only use this for business partners or high-level managers. You can also customize advanced options beneath it, like access to Business apps and integrations.

Make your selection and click Next.

6. Assign Access to Assets

This is the most important step. On this screen, you’ll see lists of all the different assets owned by your Business Account, including your Facebook Pages, Instagram Accounts, Ad Accounts, Catalogs, Pixels, and more.

Go through each type of asset and select the specific one(s) this person needs to work on. For example, under "Facebook Pages," toggle the switch next to the name of the Page you want them to manage.

7. Set Specific Permissions for Each Asset

Once you select an asset, a list of permissions will appear on the right side of the window. Here, you'll toggle the specific tasks you want this person to be able to do. For instance, after selecting your Facebook Page, you might enable permissions for "Content," "Messages," and "Community Activity" for a Community Manager.

How to Add a Partner or Agency to Meta Business Suite

Working with an outside marketing agency, a freelancer, or another company? The process is slightly different. Instead of inviting them as an individual "Person," you'll add them as a "Partner." This allows them to use their own Business Account to access your assets, which keeps your management and their client management totally separate and secure.

  1. Navigate to Settings in Business Suite.
  2. Under the ‘Users’ list, instead of "People," you will find this option. In the new Business Account Settings page, view "Business users and settings" in the left sidebar and then select Partners.
  3. Click on the blue 'Add' button and choose Give a partner access to your assets.
  4. Here, you will need the Partner’s Business ID. Ask your agency or freelancer for this ID. They can find it in their own Meta Business Suite under Business Info.
  5. Enter the ID and click Next. Now you’ll be at a familiar screen where you can assign them specific assets (your Facebook Page, Ad Account, Pixel, etc.) and permissions, just like you did when adding an individual person.
  6. Once you send the request, the partner will be notified in their own Business Suite and must approve the connection.

Best Practices for Secure Collaboration

To keep everything running smoothly and securely, follow a few simple best practices:

  • Perform Regular Audits: Once every quarter, go into the "People" and "Partners" section and review who has access. Remove any former employees, expired agency contracts, or anyone else who no longer needs access to your assets.
